Just days after completing his record transfer from Viborg FF, the 20-year-old Dane impressed with high pressing, strong ball retention, and a brilliant 50-meter run that nearly yielded his debut goal.
He dazzled with a solo run past the Lyon defence around the 60th minute, narrowly missing what would have been a stunning debut goal.
The French media outlets said the following.
"He has only just arrived from Denmark, yet he was already the most impressive player. He pressed high and held onto the ball well. In the 60th minute, he made a magnificent run of over 50 meters, though he failed to hit the target with his subsequent shot," said La Depeche.
Le Figaro noted that "the Danish playmaker, who recently arrived at Toulouse, impressed with his technical skills. The 20-year-old Scandinavian created three chances - including a spectacular run about an hour into the match that he was unable to finish - and generally put immense pressure on the Lyon defence, who struggled to contain him. If he continues, he could well become one of Toulouse’s breakout stars this season."
Les Violets continued to sing Jorgenson's praises: "Jorgensen is already the best attacking player. He has just arrived and cost a fortune for a club like Toulouse, but the Dane has not disappointed. Technically, he is a joy to watch on the ball, and his set-piece delivery is also impressive. Only that shot in the second half (where he squandered a chance, ed.) was missing to make his debut a resounding success."
Despite the promising performance from Thomas Jorgensen, the visitors from Lyon went on to win the match 2-0, among others, thanks to a goal from the former Brondby midfielder Noah Nartey.
